'most useful function'

Pros:
It has an invaluable function in that it allows one to hide folders that various software dumps in 'Documents' folder without giving the option to put them somewhere else and which I personally do not want cluttering up that folder and do not want to see. For me it hides only the folders that I ask it to. System folders are left alone.
Cons:
None.
Other Thoughts:
For creating folders that are more invisible try 'WinMend Folder Hidden'. Even that one, however, is revealed by the defragment process of 'Puran Defrag'.

It hides the folder alright,along with important system folders that you definitely DO NOT want hidden! The files inside your so called 'hidden' folder are easily found using a search tool such as Everything. Not very secure then,because the files are in 'Recycler',which is one of the system folders which the program has hidden. Brilliant idea that is if you want to lose your files!!!
Other Thoughts:
When you uninstall this garbage, it's hit and miss whether or not the system folders which the program has hidden will appear again. The did not on my system. What's worse than a program that is useless is a program like this,which also messes up your system as well. If anyone tries this program out,I would strongly advise that they can restore their system afterwards like I had to do. Don't rely on Windows restore to save you either,as this program messes with the system files that may not work. Use at your own risk.

i have tested this software,
till now i have downloaded nearly 15 such softwares, and allmost all of them where found to be carp
but when i downloaded this software and ran a full antirootkit scan i was shocked it didn't even detect a single content, so i can directly say this is the software which is no1 in the whole universe
my dear nuts who are giving negative ratings to this software do u people know that this is a software which has got 2 types of protection
1 higher level protection
2 lower level protection
if u use the first level then this software will take nearly 15 mins to hide all folders totally protected whereas if u use the second level then your files will remain unprotected like those carp softwares

Does not truely hide the folders. Can still be seen in other programs. This program merely append the folder with some special characters that is not the usual characters that you'll use, hence making it not been able to be displayed thats all. That explains why its 'free' or donation..

The purpose of hiding a file or folder is to prevent it from drawing interest. This program does that. With a little effort you can also place the application exe and short cuts in different spots so that they too will not be stumbled apon easily. If that does occur however, it requires a password first before allowing the application to be opened up. So there is no available list to draw unneseccary attention. Selecting to display hidden files and folders through Windows Explorer's Tools>FolderOptions will not expose these hidden folders - Neither will typing in the original file path in any explorer window. My only concern is that one of my text editors indicate that txt files being hidden while in use has been deleted. It would seem that original files/folders are then moved somewhere else when hidden and then moved back when unhiding them. I'm not so sure that is very safe. Moving larger folders MAY 'confirm' this if slower. For this last reason, I give it only a 4.

Folders and their content are still visible and accessible through Win 3.1 and DOS programs like Norton Comander: they are renamed to 'chkdsk.xxx'. The funny thing is that by running the setup file again after installing and hidding a folder, when you're prompted to choose where to install, you can find the folder you just hid.

You need to use other manners to encrypt/protect your data in addition to this.

Simple to use utility. Great for hiding financial information, medical information and other information that you would not want seen by
- a guest using your computer
- a technician fixing your computer
- a hacker
- your girlfriend / wife / other blood sucker
- a thief who stole your computer and is now accessing info to steal your identity.
First encrpty your files, password protect them, zip them if practical (and password protect the zip), then HIDE THEM.
For utimate saftey you should then destroy the computer, burn it , eat the ashes. That may be extreme for most.

I LOVE this type of question. With unit conversions/analysis, we can conclude something about which we have very little perspective. Sounds crazy, but bear with me, it will be fun.
The most important idea here is the nature of a conversion factor. When someone says 12 eggs in a dozen, we can write it in several ways. I'll leave off the eggs for now, since this can apply to anything - raspberries, clowns, teachers, movies, etc. It is a definition. 12 of anything can be called a 'dozen,' if you fell like it. I personally don't know why anyone would pick a number like '12' and give it a special name, but the custom is rampant:
5280 feet is one mile (who came up with that?)
144 is one gross (what?),
12 inches in a foot,
3 feet in a yard,
and so on.
These are all definitions of a particular number, but the idea applies to any type of conversion. It could be clowns/circus or students/class, for example.

They are equalities, so I can write them in various ways:
1 foot/12 inches,
5280 feet/mile
12 inches/1 foot
4 quarts/gallon
1 mile/5280 feet
1 gallon/4 quarts
etc.
It is important to note I can write them with the values inverted, such as 1 mile/5280 feet. Since the denominator and numerator are both equal to each other, I can write them in either format. That is very useful when it comes to problems such as these.
The first three lines are all conversion factors. I can write them in a format that I choose in order to conveniently cancel units. Since the denominator and numerator are equal, the expression reduces to just 1, mathematically. That allows us to multiply that expression times anything, since it is ultimately a value of '1.' The numbers change, but those changes simply reflect a change in the units, not in the actual value.
Let's start with the nookes. I want to know how many hides are in 15 of the buggers. I need to select from the conversion factors to eventually change nookes into hides. I can see from the second and third conversion factors that nookes are related to yards, and that yards are related to hides. Let's try those:
15 nookes * (1 yard/4 nookes) = 15/4 yards. I chose the conversion factor in a form that placed yards over nookes. When I multiply the 15 nookes, the unit nookes simply cancels out and we are left with just yards. I could have chosen 4 nookes/1 yard, but then I would have to divide 15 nookes by (4 nookes/1 yard), and, although simple in the case, I prefer multiplication over division because my mind can easily predict the outcome of a division as well as a multiplication.
Next, we need to convert yards into hides. Take the 2nd conversion factor and write is as (1 hide/4 yards). Then multiply it times the (15/4) yards:
(15/4) yards x (1 hide/4 yards) = 15/16 hide. The unit 'yards' cancels out and all we're left with is hides. Sounds promising!
There is 15/16 hide in 15 nookes. I didn't have to envision what exactly is a nooke or a yard, or even a fardell. I just used the units to decide what steps to take in changing the number of nookes into an equivalent number of hides. I don't like doing that, since it is easy to wind up with something stupid, but don't worry about it until the end of the problem. In this case one can't envision what is happening, so just go with it.
Keeping units in calculations is an easy way to help guide your work and to check whether the answer makes sense. If your final unit is something like 'presidents/square inch' then you may want to double check, especially if it is 'US presidents'/square inch. But if the units have no physical meaning for you, then just be careful going through the first time.
I do conclude, however, a nooke must be a real loser if it only has 15/16 of a hide.
I know keeping units in a calculation seems like a lot of effort for nothing, but it does save time and prevents errors in the end.
